USING YOUR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

What is important to remember about your statement of purpose is that…

  • You can use it to literally, verbatim, communicate why you do what you do and why you are so effective. 

  • You can use it as a reminder to yourself of the cause you are working towards when investigating new ideas, opportunities and people you want to connect with.

  • You can use it to motivate yourself when feeling overwhelmed. 

  • It is something to reflect on when you are uncertain or unfulfilled by what you are doing professionally and personally. When you feel the need to change or pivot. Or, if you feel you no longer belong and you have lost sight of your significance and value in the world.

  • It is always there for you when you lose control of your own life story. 

To be able to use your statement of purpose most effectively, it must:

  • Start with an action. If there is no action, there is no doing

  • Be simple and clear, no fancy words to hide behind

  • Be in service to others 

  • Be in affirmative language

  • Be Infinite

  • And it must motivate you
