What Does Martin Scorsesses Have To Do With Purpose?

In the recently released Apple TV documentary about Martin Scorsese, the American film director of Oscar-nominated and award-winning movies, such as Raging Bull, The Departed and Killers Of The Flower Moon, his ex-wife, Isabella Rossalini, gives great insight into what goes on in his mind. She shares this story: “One day I asked Martin, when you're in your thoughts all day long, do you really think, why do we live, where do we come from, where do we go, all the time? He said yes. Then he asked me what I think about. I said, What's for lunch?”

When I heard her say that, I realized: there are people who are interested in understanding how things work and those who are interested in the result.

I like to know how things work.

It is now clear to me that the years I spent studying authenticity and purpose were not to uncover my purpose, but to understand how purpose works as a tool to find and maintain my authenticity, so that I can find belonging in this inauthentic world.

Our Lead With Purpose course is one way to find relief from this inauthentic world.
