No Magic Bullet Podcast Interview
Purposeful people are not always the ones who have fame and fortune. Some of the most purposeful people are those standing in an Ontario river fly fishing.
I had the great honour of being interviewed by Bob Koven, the host of the "No Magic Bullet" podcast, a fly fishing instructor, and artist.
After a brief discussion about what I do and how authenticity and purpose are the tools in my toolbox for maintaining my well-being, I was approved to be featured on his podcast.
Bob doesn’t have millions of followers, but that doesn’t make what he does less valuable; the value you need to understand and wholeheartedly appreciate and respect is his purpose.
At one point in the conversation, I asked Bob a question. My question and why I asked it were very intentional. I wanted the listeners not only to understand how to identify their purpose, but I also wanted Bob to see how beautifully he was living his purpose and how the world was benefiting from it.
Twenty minutes into the interview, I asked Bob to tell me what his purpose was, and after a 30-second run-on sentence, I thanked him and then asked him to tell me what it was in two words, and added, “What is the experience in your life you never want anyone to experience ever again”. His answer after a few tries was catastrophic thinking.
There it was, in two words, Bob clarified for himself that his purpose was to share so we (including himself) could stop thinking catastrophically. What does he do to do this? Not only does he have a podcast, but he also teaches it through fly fishing and his art, beautiful pictures of the sunset, which would undoubtedly help anyone calm their thoughts and find joy. Every day, Bob is working to control his catastrophic thinking as well as help others do the same.
